She wants a dog.
Pros:
Company. Cute.
Cons:
Must train him not to pee in the apartment
take him for a walk everyday
take him to the vet
teach him not to bark too much
Not to chew on furniture
Not to scratch furniture
And last but not least: We'd have to pick his poo on the street (yikes)
So for now, she'll have to walk this stuffed dog. It's definately not the same but it will have to do...

I was just making the comment yesterday that I was glad that on top of everything else I was glad that we didn't have a dog through all of it (the move). It is a huge commitment! And a puppy, oh my, don't even get me started. They are so irresistibly cute which is what makes it hard to say no.
Our kids wanted a dog so badly nine years ago--they were 13 and 11--and they vowed that it would be their dog and they would take care of it, feed it, walk it, etc. They were so genuinely dedicated to the dog (it had had a "visitation" with them and their grandmother) and so honest in their promises to be responsible for it ... and, of course, we knew better.
At least you would be going in with your eyes open on this project ...
We love Corky; she's a full-fledged member of the family. She's Diane's dog first, not the kids', and my dog second, not the kids. But life just wouldn't be the same without her, the good and the bad.
Get the kid a dog, already!
Like Jessica says, it is hard to say no, I like dogs too! But we live in an apartment. It would have to be a small dog, but still... I think it's too much work. If we lived in a house, with a big garden, I would probably have a dog by now. Or a cat? I love cats too.
