I bought this book about 2 years ago. Struggled to read past the first 100 pages :( It's not an easy read verdad? or perhaps the English translation doesn't do justice. This time next year, maybe I will be able to read it in Spanish!

Abha, it's not an easy read, that's true, but it's worth it!
It's kind of a magic realism (realismo mágico) also present in House of Spirits (Isabel Allende). Thanks for your comments!

I, too, thought it was an excellent book. It did take a while to get into, though.
